Description

Isparta sits in a high basin in southwestern Turkey, and for a few weeks every May its fields produce some of the most valuable rose oil in the world — the harvest happens before sunrise, because the oil content collapses once the sun is properly up. This bar takes its cue from that tradition.

Rose extract brings vitamins A and C along with naturally occurring antioxidants, and it's been used on dry and mature skin for as long as anyone has been writing things down. The scent is the classic one — not a modern or fruity reinterpretation, but the real, slightly green, slightly honeyed rose people remember from their grandmother's bathroom, done properly.

Ingredients

Rose (Rosa) extract, olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable glycerin, sodium hydroxide, water.

How it's made

Cold-processed by hand in Turkey and cured on wooden racks for several weeks. No heat is applied, which keeps the rose extract's vitamins and antioxidants intact. Each bar is cut by hand from a poured block, so slight differences in size, shade and marbling are normal.

Making it last

Keep the bar on a draining dish and never leave it sitting in water. A cold-process bar that dries out fully between uses lasts two to three times longer.
