Rice Soap Bar

Description
The women of Huangluo village in southern China are famous for hair that reaches the floor, and they credit fermented rice water. In Heian-era Japan, court women washed their faces with togijiru, the cloudy water left behind from rinsing rice. The practice is ancient and unglamorous in origin — it began as a way of not throwing something away.
Modern analysis explains why it stuck: rice naturally contains niacinamide, ferulic acid and phytic acid, three compounds that now appear on serums costing far more than this bar. Together they're associated with a brighter, more even-looking complexion, and phytic acid delivers a very gentle resurfacing effect — mild enough for daily use.
Why you'll like it
- Rice naturally carries niacinamide, ferulic acid and phytic acid
- Gentle enough for daily use, unlike most brightening products
- Soft, milky lather; leaves skin noticeably smooth
- Popular wherever K-beauty has a following
Best for
Dull, uneven-looking skin. K-beauty customers. All skin types, including sensitive.
How to use
Lather onto wet skin, work in with circular motions, rinse. Once or twice daily.
Good to know
Almost no scent — clean, starchy, faintly sweet.
Ingredients
Rice extract, rice water, olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable glycerin, sodium hydroxide, water.
How it's made
Cold-processed by hand in Turkey and cured on wooden racks for several weeks. No heat is applied, which keeps the rice's naturally occurring compounds intact. Each bar is cut by hand from a poured block, so slight differences in size, shade and marbling are normal.
100 g · Paraben-free · SLS-free · Never tested on animals
Making it last
Keep the bar on a draining dish and never leave it sitting in water. A cold-process bar that dries out fully between uses lasts two to three times longer.
