Find your number
Every Avlia Aleppo bar is made from the same two oils — olive and laurel — in a different balance. The number on the bar is that balance. It isn’t a quality grade. It’s a choice about how you want your soap to feel.
Most Aleppo soap sits between 5% and 20% laurel. Ours runs from pure olive oil all the way to 60%.
The one idea
It’s what makes the bar mild and moisturizing.
Turn it up and the lather gets denser, the clean feels deeper and the warm, earthy scent gets stronger.
The range
Not sure? Start at 16%.
Use it for two weeks. If you want more depth, move up to 30%. If you want it softer, step down to 10%. The range exists so you can find exactly where you sit.

Get the Discovery Set — $42Why it’s brown outside and green inside
Every bar is cured for about a year. As it ages, the outside turns a golden, dusty brown while the inside keeps its green. A bar that’s lighter or darker than the photo isn’t a defect — that’s the curing.
How to use it
Wet the bar and work up a lather between your hands, then apply and rinse. Keep it on a draining dish between uses — Aleppo soap lasts far longer when it dries out fully.
The craft
Our bars are made in southern Turkey by Syrian master soapmakers, using the traditional Aleppo method: olive oil and laurel oil cooked slowly, poured, cut by hand, stamped and left to cure. In December 2024, UNESCO inscribed the craftsmanship of Aleppo soap on its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
In our customers’ words
“Sometimes simple is the best, and that’s the case with this soap. After using it for two weeks I’ve found I don’t need lotion on my hands anymore.”
“Very moisturizing. I’m older and it’s hard to find soaps that don’t dry me out. This did the trick.”
“I use it on my whole body, in my hair, and as a face wash.”
“Very informative website that makes it easy to figure out exactly which ratio of laurel and olive oils would be best for your skin.”
Aleppo soap is a cleanser, not a medicine. If you have a skin condition, talk to your doctor before changing your routine, and stop using any new product that doesn’t agree with your skin.
