Avlia Beechwood Wall-Mounted Towel Shelf — Floating Slot Design

Description
A floating wooden shelf that holds a towel. The Avlia Beechwood Wall Towel Shelf is a solid block of European beechwood that mounts to the wall by its narrow back edge and projects outward approximately 10 cm — like a small floating shelf. A rectangular slot is machined through the top face. Thread a towel through the slot from above, and it hangs down below the shelf by its own weight.
No protruding arm. No chrome bar. No plastic hook. The towel simply passes through the wood and hangs beneath it.
How it works
The narrow back edge of the piece (only 3.5 cm thick) is the wall-contact surface. Two keyhole mounting plates are pre-installed on this back edge. You install two screws in your wall (screws and wall anchors included), then slide the shelf onto the screw heads. The shelf projects outward ~10 cm from the wall. The slot on the top face is where the towel passes through. Once threaded, the towel hangs below the shelf and stays in place by gravity. No clip, no spring, no mechanism — just physics.
Total installation time: approximately 5 minutes. No visible screws from the front. The shelf appears to float on the wall with nothing holding it there.
Material and construction
Solid European beechwood (Fagus sylvatica) — a dense, fine-grained hardwood with natural warm blonde color and visible grain pattern. Beechwood has been a material of choice for European furniture makers for centuries: it is hard enough to hold precise machined edges, stable enough to resist bathroom humidity when properly treated, and warm enough in color and texture to feel like a natural object rather than a manufactured one.
Each unit is CNC-machined for precision: the slot edges, the recessed channel, and the corner radii are all cut to exact tolerances. The surface is sanded smooth through multiple grits and finished with a natural protective treatment that guards against moisture while preserving the authentic grain texture and warm tone of the wood.
Why the slot works better than a hook or bar
A towel bar protrudes from the wall — you walk past it, bump an elbow, catch a sleeve. A hook holds one towel and wrinkles it. This shelf does neither: it sits flush with only 10 cm of projection, holds a full hand towel without bunching, and the towel hangs naturally below, drying evenly on both sides. The mechanism is the absence of mechanism.
Where it works
Bathroom — hand towels and guest towels, mounted beside the sink or near the shower entrance. Kitchen — tea towels and dish towels, mounted beside the sink or stove. Powder room — a guest towel holder that looks like a design object. Entryway — a hand towel near the coat area. Laundry room — utility towels. The warm beechwood tone complements white tile, marble, concrete, and painted surfaces equally — it is a neutral that adds warmth without competing with anything.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth as needed. Do not submerge in water. The natural protective finish is designed to handle normal bathroom humidity. If the surface feels dry over time, apply a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil or beeswax polish to refresh the finish.
A note about natural wood
Because this is a CNC-machined solid wood product, each unit is unique. Slight variations in grain pattern, color depth, and natural markings between individual shelves are inherent to the material and are part of its character — not defects.
